Boards
A board is for work that is not a document yet. Create columns, add cards, drag them when the work moves. This page is the walkthrough — boards do not send invoices.
- 1
Create a board from Boards
Open Boards and create a board with a name you will still understand in three months. Leave it standalone, or connect it to a project so the board sits next to that engagement.
- 2
Use the default columns, or name your own
New boards start with To do, In progress, and Done. In Edit board you can rename columns, reorder them with the arrows, or add a column. A column can only be deleted once it has no tasks.
- 3
Add a card and open it for notes
Add a task in a column. Open the card for a title, description, priority, due date, and assignee.
- 4
Drag the card when the work moves
Use the drag handle to pull a card into the next column. Done is the last column by default — that is the progress count on the board list, not a billed invoice.
Boards are not billing
Moving a card to Done does not create an invoice. When the work is ready to bill, open the project or Documents and build the invoice there. The board is the plan; the document is the record the client receives.
Standalone versus a project
Standalone is fine for internal work with no client yet. Connect a board to a project when the tasks belong to an engagement — so you find the board next to the hours, not in a pile of unnamed boards.
